Hauber has been the subject of numerous newspaper, magazine articles and television news shows. She has appeared on CNN Newsnight with Aaron Brown, as well as the Fine Living Channel, and was featured in “B&W Magazine” and “Photo Techniques.”

When asked about the reason behind photographing the working people of America she said, photographer, I was intrigued by the fact that so many others have focused on the really sad aspects of our society. I didn’t want to do a project that was so similar to what so many others were doing. I wanted to show that there are people living their own little dreams, people happy about their decisions, but at the same time there are also those who are struggling to capture something better. This project focuses on mainstream America. It’s not only about the rich and famous nor the poor and downtrodden—its focus is on capturing a broad cross-section of America.”

Hauber decided to travel the country with just her cat and dog. The excitement of the project and the desire of reaching her goal eclipsed any fear she felt about traveling by herself. “I want to be a role model for people, but especially young women and girls,” she said. “I want to show them that if they have a goal and a passion, it is possible to do it alone. I want to show them that it is OK to step outside of societal expectations to follow their dreams.”

Hauber is a Colorado native and a graduate of the University of Colorado and The Art Institute of Colorado. Her work has been displayed in galleries across America and in private collections worldwide. Her book can be ordered at
